Derek Hall
Acting Chief of Studios
With a substantial wealth of experience spanning 15 years in the film and TV industry, Derek Hall joined twofour54 as Head of Studios to manage the development of the company’s existing and future studio facilities across Yas Creative Hub, Musaffah Industrial District and the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD).
Derek has held award winning producer and studio executive positions throughout his career, working within both the United States and Australia. Prior to joining twofour54, Derek was the Head of Studios at Screen Queensland, where he successfully attracted domestic and international productions to Australia. Some of the major productions he worked on include Paramount’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Love & Monsters’, the NBCUniversal TV series ‘Young Rock’ and the TV series ‘Joe vs Carole’. He has also worked as a Managing Director of Honua Studios from 2014 to 2018, running the world’s first transmedia accelerator, where he handled complex partnerships between the studio and industry giants such as Universal, Netflix, Disney, and Marvel on blockbusters such as the Jurassic World franchise, ‘Triple Frontiers’, and ‘Hobbs & Shaw’.
Derek is currently pursuing a PhD in the creative industries from Queensland University of Technology and a Masters from Bond university.
