GTA Global Ltd announced today the conclusion of filming in Abu Dhabi the global production and international award-winning GT Academy TV show, a collaboration between Nissan and PlayStation designed to turn superfast Gran Turismo gamers into real Nissan racing drivers.
The reality TV show held its 7-day race camp for the first time outside of the UK, using various locations throughout the emirate, including Yas Marina Circuit, Qasr Al Sarab and Yas Waterworld. GT Academy was provided with on-the-ground support and production services by twofour54 and will avail Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s 30% rebate, which applies to production spend in Abu Dhabi.
On the last day of filming, a crew of over 100 descended on Yas Marina Circuit to witness the final two qualifying sessions and the race. Legendary Formula 1 designer, Adrian Newey handed out the winners Gold Helmet to GT Academy Champion 2015, Romain Sarazin of France.
Coming off the success in facilitating the Today Show with Al Roker, GT Academy is yet another popular TV Show to choose Abu Dhabi as a filming location.
