Emirati women make up 63% of twofour54’s female workforce

Noura Al Kaabi: August 28th celebrates and praises The Mother of the Nation
In recognition of the United Arab Emirates Women’s Day, Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54 said: “The initiative of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation”, President of the General Women’s Union and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation to celebrate Emirati Women is a continuation of the great efforts in supporting and empowering our country’s women. This day creates a supportive environment to women and provides them with all the means to carry out their vital roles in our society. This day gives Emirati women the opportunity to salute and celebrate Sheikha Fatima for her role in our community.”
Al Kaabi added: “The UAE has surpassed the stage of empowering women and is now empowering the community through women because they are the role models of the region. Emirati women at twofour54, whom our statistics show make up 63% of the company’s female workforce, dedicate their efforts to developing the UAE’s media industry and various fields as well.
“Emirati employees at twofour54 are able to take advantage of resources and facilities that help to enable women, especially working mothers. twofour54 had in place a maternity leave policy for the past six years, which enables new mothers to take a six month period of leave, in line with a law unique to the UAE. The law was put in place in recognition of women’s roles as working mothers.”
Al Kaabi concluded: “twofour54 is one of the government entities in which women play a major role, as they contribute to the successes and achievements of the company as well as work on the development of the media industry on a larger scale.”
Emirati women have achieved different successes in the media industry, such as:
- A couple of years ago, Emirati films on IMDB did not exceed 5 films. Today, hundreds of Emirati films are being made – and Emirati female filmmakers are a major force in the industry. Some of these female filmmakers from UAE include: Nujoom Al Ghanem, Nayla Al Khaja and Amal Al Agroobi
- Aisha Al Zaabi, member of twofour54’s creative lab, won the award for best film in Al Muhr competition at the Dubai International Film Festival 2014
- A film of Emirati director Mariam Al Nuaimi, member of twofour54’s creative lab, was screened at the Dubai International Film Festival 2014
- The screening of the film “Red, Yellow and Blue” by UAE filmmaker Nujoom Al Ghanem Star, in the Cairo Film Festival in 2014
- Emirati director Nayla Al Khaja participated in a number of categories in the Dubai International Film Festival, and won best Emirati director in Al Muhr competition. Today, Nayla assumes a new role in training and guidance to the new generation of filmmakers after being selected to head the competition for short films with the aim of encouraging emerging talent
- Emirati director, producer and actress Amal Al Agroobi’s short documentary ”Half Emirati” was shown at the ninth edition of the Dubai International Film Festival but she rose to fame when her film “The Brain That Sings” won People’s Choice award at the Festival
