The “Arab Thought Foundation” has awarded its 2014 Arab Creativity Award to Abdulsalam Haykal, Chairman of the twofour54-based Haykal Media, in recognition of Aliqtisadi.com. The award was presented by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, President of the “Arab Thought Foundation”, during its annual conference held in Morocco 3-5 December, 2014 under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In his acceptance speech, Haykal emphasized Aliqtisadi’s promise to “promote high-quality Arabic content online,” adding that “it’s a prerequisite for development in our region.” “The content gap is a serious impediment to growth and development efforts in the Arab World,” he added, warning that “most of the current content available now advocates wrong values, inaccurate information, and exclusionary attitudes.” Haykal, who launched Aliqtisadi.com in 2004, continued: “We are proud to be operating out of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates; a country that signifies sustainable unity, visionary progress, and a hub where Arabs have come together from all around the region.”
Maryam Al Muhairi, COO of twofour54, said in a statement that: “We are proud that one of our partners has received such a prestigious award from a distinguished organization like the “Arab Thought Foundation”. Al Muhairi said that “twofour54 always seeks to be a supportive hub for our partners to excel in the UAE, and grow regionally,” adding that “the recognition is a testimony to Aliqtisadi.com, one of our leading Arabic content partners; we believe that their success is our success.”
