Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer

Wayne Borg is Deputy CEO & Chief Operating Officer at twofour54, responsible for developing and managing the company’s strategic operations. In this role, Wayne is leading twofour54’s development of a sustainable industry cluster fuelled by attracting the right mix of global industry leaders and innovative organisations to support the establishment of the regional creative media industry hub in Abu Dhabi.

He is in charge of day-to-day operations for twofour54 which includes overseeing the Training Academy, Production & Broadcast Facilities and Incubator, encompassing talent and content development initiatives.

As the Deputy CEO and COO, Wayne also oversees and leads key twofour54 strategic initiatives including the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, Tropfest Arabia and the Abu Dhabi Media Summit.

Wayne joined twofour54 early 2008. He brings extensive knowledge and experience of the global media and creative industries and a proven track record of achievement in successfully developing media businesses and content; leading teams spanning Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Russia.

Previously Wayne was Executive Vice President for Universal Pictures International (UPI), the London-based international division of Universal Pictures.  He was responsible for leading all aspects of Universal’s commercial and local content development activities outside of North America.

A native of Sydney Australia, Wayne returned to his homeland following a decade in Europe where he enjoyed success in a number of senior roles with Disney and Warner Bros. He joined Universal Pictures International in 2000 as Managing Director Australia/NZ where he successfully transformed the Australasian UPI operation into one of the leading business units within UPI, resulting in market leadership. He returned to London to take up the promotion to Vice President, Latin America & Asia Pacific in 2003.

Under his leadership, growth in these territories significantly increased - in part through an aggressive local all rights film and TV development and acquisition strategy, implementation and execution.

Wayne commenced his career as a marketing trainee with consumer goods market leader Unilever before joining PepsiCo in a senior marketing role.
